Which contract does the job need?

  • Remodeling and repair work on a home: the Louisiana Home Improvement Contract sets the scope, price, deposits and draws, permits, and how concealed conditions and changes are handled.
  • Larger residential or commercial projects: the Louisiana Construction Contract adds a payment schedule, delays, warranties, and lien planning.
  • Changes after the job starts: a Change Order Form records the new scope, price, and schedule, signed before the extra work begins.
  • Service calls and small jobs: Estimate & Invoice Terms for Contractors put your deposit, due date, and late-charge terms on every estimate and invoice.
  • Your trade: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, cleaning, pest control, and handyman businesses each have a contract written for the trade. The Home Services Contract covers trades without their own page.

What your attorney asks about

Your consultation covers how you actually run jobs: how you price work, when you collect deposits, how changes get approved, what you warranty, and how customers can cancel. Your attorney uses those answers to recommend the terms your contract should include, then drafts it for your business.

Questions contractors ask

My trade isn't listed. Which contract should I use?

The Home Services Contract is written for trades without their own page, such as garage doors, appliance repair, pressure washing, and gutters. If your work needs something different, your attorney will tell you before any work starts.

Do I need a different contract for every job?

No. Many contractors use one main contract for projects, estimate and invoice terms for smaller jobs, and change order forms for changes along the way. Your attorney recommends what fits how you work.
